If you are a picky eater like me then you’ll know how difficult it is to get yourself to try something new. This year at school I have been challenging myself to try out a new recipe each week. This week’s recipe is a Crispy Baked Asian Style Garlic Tofu and yes it is vegan!
I am a vegetarian, hopefully the blog name gave it away ;), but I’m the worst at being a healthy vegetarian. Most of my food is highly processed and not exactly “clean”. Hence why I have been trying out new recipes! Now this recipe is as basic as you can get when it comes to tofu cooking. Since I had never tried Tofu before I decided to try a very simple recipe for the first go round.
Now you may be looking at the ingredients going, brown sugar are you mad women? Because that is exactly what I thought when I first stumbled upon tofu recipes. But I promise it is totally worth it to have the brown sugar in there!
If you want to just add a simple protein source to your meals, you can always just do baked tofu. Just follow the first step of the recipe and you’ll have enough tofu to last you days! If you do baked tofu I would recommend adding it to salad or a rice bowl, because on its own Tofu is not the world’s tastiest food.
The macros for one serving is: (1/2 the recipe)
231 calories, 10.5 fat, 18 carb, 17.5 fat.
Overall this recipe is very low carb, high protein, moderate fat. I often find it very difficult to find a vegetarian recipe that has is high in fat and low in carbs. I will definitely be making this recipe again!
